Agreements: Iris with facets of Oudh, spicy woody Oriental
How 's your mood ? Assertive Hedonist, Mysterious and Luxurious
A filthy and voluptuous Iris.
When the East meets the West: the fascinating point of contact between different cultures, where diversity produces a new language: iconic materials from the East and the West -- Oudh and Iris -- blended into a new mysterious and voluptuous creature.
The fascination of contamination
I've always been fascinated by the contamination from different cultures, which gives rise to new forms -- called syncretic, eclectic -- for me, a new deviant marvel.
I remember my fascination with the exotic and mysterious pseudo-Arabic writing in the halos of certain Renaissance paintings focused on a quintessential character of Christian culture and yet tainted by a reference to Arab culture.
Or the incredible syncretic forms such as Greek or Roman temples transformed into Christian churches, or Hindu-Islamic architecture, merging two cultures into a new language.
Meetings, the scent
This obsession, I wanted to bring to life with Encounters, through the combination of two iconic ingredients of the East and the West, Iris and Oudh - a moment of contact at the origin of a new creature.
You'll find the sophisticated refinement of iris butter, with its soft, mysterious powder; a substance that grows in the soil and then generates the most lyrical of flowers.
And you'll find Oudh, a material born from an infection of the Aquilaria trees, which then produces one of the most haunting and complex scents in the perfumery's line of ingredients.
The emblematic substance is iris butter.
The iris is an emblematic flower of Western culture, the symbol of the city of Florence, in whose countryside one of the most important areas for the cultivation of this flower has developed.
The lily flower has also been the symbol of the kings of France since the 12th century.
And the iris is found countless times in the paintings of Western history.
The emblematic material is Oudh.
Oudh is an iconic ingredient of Eastern culture due to its crucial importance. Derived from an infection of the Aquilaria tree, it is native to South and Southeast Asia, as well as parts of the Middle East.
Used for spiritual and religious purposes, it is believed to help elevate the mind and create a sense of calm and connection with the Divine.
Considered one of the most valuable materials in perfumery for its intense and complex aroma, it is woodened with cooked, animal and smoked facets.
