Perfume extract
Agreements: Cyprus, fruity, woody
Mood: Dramatic, narcotic, hypnotic
In a post-apocalyptic world, a survivor of a sophisticated and refined civilization wears a sparkling, custom-made dress and walks through a dark, smoky place. The contrast between beauty and terror is expressed by W Blake's The Tyger: the animal is incredibly charming and seductive, but also dark, terrible and dramatic. The fragrance is the result of this striking and sublime combination, creating a unique and captivating atmosphere.
Notes: Narcotic flowers, honey, peach jam, patchouli, sandalwood, oak moss, oud, leather, heliotropine.
It is a perfume extract, to be used sparingly because the concentration is 25%. It has a great longevity (12 hours on average).
Tyger Tyger's Elaboration
The title is the brainchild of a poetry masterpiece, William Blake's The Tyger.
"Tyger, burning with a thousand fires,
In the forests of the night;
What an immortal hand or eye
Could frame your frightening symmetry?"
In this composition, I sought the perfect balance between two opposing elements and the expression of their conflicting counterposition.
I had in mind a post-apocalyptic state, where the traces of a highly sophisticated and refined civilization survived in the dark and frightening state of a collapsed and unstructured world.
Blake's tyrant embodies the two qualities I wanted to portray: sublime and irresistibly attractive on the one hand, terrible and frightening on the other.
“Frightening symmetry” - a trait attributed to the tiger by W. Blake - typifies this contrast between perfection and terror.
The scent is structured around a pairing of narcotic white flowers with sweet-fruity facets, which also includes a tuberose absolute - such as a prima donna, the protagonist of a dramatic play, it is the finest example of a refined civilization of a bygone world; on the other hand, the background notes present different types of wood, with burnt and leather qualities, referring to a post-apocalyptic scenario of destruction, mystery and darkness.
The result of these parts - which wouldn’t work individually - is a brilliant, conflicting scent that gives me an exciting emotion of highly dramatic sophistication - the kind of contrasting feeling that anything attractive awakens in me.
